PTSD, trauma reactions, workplace stress, and other mental health issues are now recognized as common risks for first responders. First responders are the people who show up when things in life are not going well. First responders are Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, EMTs, Corrections Officers, Military Members, 911 Dispatchers, Medical Professionals, Coroners, Crime Scene Technicians, Morticians, and any other professional who steps up when others step away.
As a former first responder, I have the unique perspective of having experienced the trauma and stress that is encompassed in a career of this nature. I know the challenges you face are not only from the jobs you do but also from the environments and structures you work in. First responders are viewed as highly emotionally resilient individuals. I know you are expected to be tough and remain calm under pressure at all times. Everyone turns to you in a crisis, but who do you turn to in times of distress? I am here to support you in your career. Whether you are dealing with the aftermath of an incident or want to ensure you are prepared for whatever comes your way, by working with me you will find a place of understanding, support, humour, and most of all, a place of healing.
