Meet Laura

Laura is a Registered Psychologist and has a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology.  Her undergraduate work focused on Sports and Performance Psychology and her life path took a 10-year detour into a career in law enforcement before returning to the psychology world in 2018.  In addition to her education and training, her experiences as an athlete, coach, first responder, and mother give her a very unique and well-rounded perspective when it comes to addressing your concerns.  Laura is an ally of the LGBTQIAS2+, BIPOC, and Alternative Lifestyle communities.  Keep reading to learn a little bit more about Laura!

Corrections Officer Laura Gall working as a K9 Handler, training with K9 Jessie at Innisfail Fire

My passion for working with the first responder community comes from my own career as a law enforcement officer and K9 Handler.  My partner K9 Jessie and I are pictured here training at the Innisfail Fire Hall.  Having spent 10 years in this role, I understand the unique culture and dynamics that are faced by our first responders.  I have worked closely with police, corrections, fire, EMS, and military personnel, and I have direct experience working with trauma, both as a law enforcement officer and a psychologist.

Previously competing at the Spruce Meadows, Laura and her old horse San Sebastian (Sunny)

For 16 years I competed across Canada and the USA in Equestrian Show Jumping.  One of my most successful partnerships was with Sunny pictured here.  In addition to my own competitive career, I was also a coach and mentor to other athletes in various sports.  My love of sport began at a very young age.  My passion for the psychology behind elite performance is what set me on the track to becoming a psychologist!  When you combine elite physical skills with mental skills training it can create incredible results!

My life has been filled with unique opportunities to learn and grow and I have had some amazing adventures! One of my favourite roles is mom to my 5-year-old son and my fur babies.  I love spending time with them and travelling near and far!  There is nothing better than spending time with family and being close to nature or the water.  I hope you feel like you know a little bit more about me and I look forward to learning more about you and your story!
